Our family is on the move this summer! We have been boating, swimming, traveling, and enjoying some much deserved time off. With all of the activity going on, it is sometimes nice to slow things down and do something simple together that doesn’t require a bunch of planning and logistics. When we visit my parents, there is this park near their house that we have visited as a family for many years. It is my son’s favorite park anywhere and we always have a blast when we go there.

Today we drove the golf cart to the park to spend some time talking, feeding the ducks and fish, and relaxing. These moments over the years have been some of the best times because we leave behind our electronic devices and all other cares. Without really discussing it or thinking about it, we just share time together without having to force the kids to interact or constantly having to entertain them. They love this place and never seem to grow tired of the short trips we take there during our visits.

My son recently purchased a boomerang and brought it with him. He really has been practicing! He can get the boomerang to come back to him almost every time. When I try to throw it, the boomerang flies straight and into the ground. I guess I wasn’t meant to be a native Australian warrior…I think I’m ok with that. One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is the amount of sun exposure we get when we spend the hours there taking in the outdoors. My family has never had issues with being too fair-skinned, but I am still cautious with our UV protection.
