Celebrating Family with Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3

I’m sure most of you can think of numerous reasons to celebrate, be it a birthday or an anniversary or a promotion, just to name a few examples. You can probably think of several people to celebrate as important parts of your life, as well. To me, there is a group of people whom I think deserve to be celebrated often – my family! You might have a crazy aunt or a goofy uncle, maybe your silly kid brother or your sometimes a little too overprotective parents. Perhaps your family includes some close friends who aren’t biologically related to you, but you consider them just as much a part of your family as your favorite cousin. Altogether, these people (your family) make up the most important network that most of us have. And they love us no matter what we do (within reason, of course!) So how do you celebrate your family?

Some of the most common ways to celebrate your family are the yearly events, such as birthdays and anniversaries (days that you certainly don’t want to forget!). Some families might have huge gatherings to celebrate these events, especially for milestone events such as a sweet 16 or 50th birthday party, or a 25th or 50th wedding anniversary. Or holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, or Fourth of July are often times to gather the family together to celebrate not only the holiday but also their love for each other. Or perhaps you and your family prefer a more intimate gathering, with just a handful of family members and close friends to celebrate a big day. My family and I tend to get together for most birthdays and holidays, and sometimes we even call in extra back-up from extended relatives and friends, such as for a milestone occasion. That old saying, “the more, the merrier” can ring very true at times like these. Of course, a family gathering does not need to be centered around a Hallmark holiday. Sometimes it’s nice to gather everyone together for a special event such as a graduation or wedding. Other times, we decide to throw a little party for no motive whatsoever or even for a specific reason, as the pups did in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3, which is being released on Blu-ray combo pack.

But you don’t even have to have an “event” to celebrate your family. You can celebrate them on a smaller, more meaningful scale on a daily basis by telling them and/or showing them how much you love them. For instance, if I’m out shopping and see something that I know my sister has been looking for, then I’ll pick it up for her. Or if I’m talking to my mom or dad (or sister or brother) on the telephone, I don’t hang up without telling them that I love them. Or as another example, after a tragic event happened several years ago, I sat down and wrote a letter to each and every person in my immediate family, telling each of them how important they have been in my life and how much I appreciated (and still do) everything that they have ever done for me. It wasn’t a difficult task at all, and it was one way that I knew would tell them how much I loved them, in case something ever happened to me, making me unable to tell them. The responses that I received brought tears to my eyes (and to most of theirs, from what I was told) – in a good way.

There aren’t any rules or rights and wrongs to family time or to showing your family how much you care. You can celebrate your family in big ways (such as parties), or small ways (such as letters), or any way in between. As long as your family knows that you care about them, then you know you’ve shown them “correctly.”
